Position Title: Senior Center Manager

Senior Center Manager. Immediate Opening. Looking for the right person to coordinate all aspects of the Agency’s Senior Café. Must be self-motivated, energetic, excellent people skills, and warm demeanor. Candidate must be flexible and have compassion for the older population. Responsibilities include inventory and requests of supplies, food prep, ability to coordinate craft projects and other activities as well as supervise Van Driver/Senior Café Assistants. Ability to lift up to 50 LBS. Candidates must have basic computer skills and high school diploma. PT 24 hours/wk. Prefer candidate with Food Safety Education, first aid, CPR are helpful but not required. Reliable transportation required. Background screening required. EEOC Position open until filled. Position Title: Distribution Specialist

Position Description: Part time position supporting the Title III- C2 program (Home Delivered Meals) and Title III- C1 Congregate Nutrition (senior Café).

Qualifications: Minimum, of high school diploma. Ability to effectively manage time to meet critical deadlines. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to interact with clients, co- workers, and community members in a professional manner.

Responsibilities: Responsible include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with operations to ensure that demand is met
  • Prepare/ review/ submit home delivered meal reports
  • Communicate supply needs
  • Accept delivered packages and ensure proper amount is inside
  • Unload merchandise
  • Stock shelves with unpacked items
  • Fill orders and deliver or ensure delivery to site
  • Prepare orders for distribution
  • Work with volunteers to ensure timely and safe delivery of home delivered meals
  • All other duties as assigned

Computer Systems: Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Healthy Generations is seeking a charismatic individual who works independently and enjoys interacting with older adults. Responsibilities include light housekeeping and errand services to seniors living in the Greater Fredericksburg Area. Must have reliable transportation, valid VA driver’s license and good references. Position Title: Driver

Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging is seeking candidate to transport seniors to cafés, outings in community, events, trips out of town when scheduled, etc. Valid Driver’s License required with good driving record. Duties will include but, are not limited to:

· Transport participants to and from senior cafés by approved and most efficient routes based upon daily pick-up list.

· Provide patient and courteous assistance to participants upon entering and leaving the van and at the café.

· Provide assistance to those who will need some help from their door to the van and from the van to their door.

· Operate the van at all times in a manner consistent with the health and safety of the passengers.

· Transport participants to designated shopping points only for the time specified unless prior approval to vary the shopping schedule.

· Perform routine pre-trip inspection according to the pre-trip form provided.

· Maintain both interior and exterior cleanliness of the van with daily cleaning of the interior.

· Return van to the designated area for overnight parking and secure all windows and doors.

· Keep an accurate monthly van sheet, to be filled out daily.

· While at the café the drivers are to get their directions and duties from the café manager. The café manager is in charge of the café and the drivers are to assist the café manager while at the café and on outing.

· Drivers will work in the kitchen, as needed, to prepare the meals and serve meals and beverages.

· Set up and take down the tables and chairs based on the requirements of each café.

· Assist with activities at the café, bingo, arts and crafts, etc.

· After lunch cleanup will be needed, sweep, wipe tables, collect trash and remove from café.

· The Café Manager will dismiss the drivers to pick up their vans and will dismiss vans when loaded.

· All Agency employees are to refrain from over expressing their opinions and employees should not engage gossip with anyone at the café. If gossip is reported disciplinary action will be taken.

· If the café manager is having a one on one meeting with another driver or participant, give the manager the privacy needed.

· The café manager will be responsible to give out any transportation or café news or changes. This maybe in conjunction with other management.

Position Title: Mobility Options Driver

Help area Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities get where they need to go!

Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging (HGAAA) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious person to fill a part-time driver role within our Mobility Options Program. Interested applicants must be 25 years-old and prepared to provide specialized, sensitized, and personalized transportation services to area seniors and persons with disabilities. 20-25 hours/ week

Responsibilities:

· Transport older adults and/or persons with disabilities using agency vehicles, to targeted destinations (medical offices, grocery stores, personal business, scheduled social events).

· Provide patient, courteous assistance to all passengers as needed.

· Ensure safe loading and offloading of all passengers and proper securement of mobility devices as needed (wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.)

· Display thorough knowledge of the operation and safety features of fleet vehicles, including the completion of daily pre-trip inspections.

· Provide excellent communication skills when interacting with passengers, care providers, family, and HGAAA staff

· Follow all agency safety and operational rules and procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting protocols.

· Other duties as assigned.

The Mobility Options program operates Monday – Friday from 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, however, schedules change daily, applicant flexibility preferred.

Qualifications: High school diploma. Valid Virginia driver’s license with positive points required. Driving experience preferred. The applicant must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using a telephone and/ or in person. Solid working knowledge of state and local laws governing vehicular movement on public thoroughfares. Strong time-management skills. Strong geographic knowledge of the Fredericksburg Region and the ability to read and comprehend maps as well as provide detailed directions when necessary. Some working knowledge of common terminology in the field of transportation. Strong listening skills. Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment. Some computer skills. Ability to meet with the public and effectively communicate with them. Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records. Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.

Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills to safely and efficiently operate fleet vehicles and communicate and interact with other employees and the public in person. Ability to lift to 25 lbs.

Position Title: VICAP Counselor

 
The Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging d/b/a Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging is seeking a qualified candidate to become a part of the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance and Options Counseling Programs.  Candidate must have strong communication skills, be able to work independently with limited direction and supervision, be responsible and dependable to complete assigned tasks promptly, able to report and input requested data on a daily basis, have the ability to research  community activities, and have a passion for helping  those in need within the community . Candidate should have some understanding or knowledge of the Virginia Insurance Counseling Assistance Program (VICAP). Experience or certification as a VICAP counselor is preferred but not required.  Spanish speaking applicants preferred.  Position is part-time with flexible schedule.  EEOC.  Drug test and background screening required.

VICAP (Medicare) Counselor Volunteers:

Healthy Generations Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging is seeking a volunteer candidate to become a part of the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program.  VICAP offers free, unbiased individualized counseling, community outreach, and public education about Medicare and other related health insurance topics.  Volunteers for this position must have strong communication skills, be able to work independently with limited direction and supervision, be responsible and dependable to complete assigned tasks promptly, able to report and input requested data on a daily basis.

VICAP volunteers empower  adults to prevent healthcare fraud.  Volunteers receive extensive training on Medicare, Medicaid and related insurance topics, including Long-Term Care.  Volunteers, if interested, can give presentations on Medicare and VICAP services to educate the community.

We seek volunteers who are free primarily during business hours, occasional evenings and weekends. Bilingual volunteers are also appreciated.

Skills

– NOT a licensed insurance agent/consultant
– Strong planning and organizational skills

– Competence using the computer and the Internet
