Since March 2020, services to our senior population have been seriously impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Senior Cafes have not been able to operate safely, and other services have been impacted by the need to social distance, mask, and sanitize as well.  The pandemic could have been even more devastating to area seniors but, Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging rose to the occasion and provided more than 6 times the number of Home Delivered Meals provided in pre-COVID years. In fiscal year 2021, we have served more than 115,000 meals.  Our homemaker services were adjusted to ensure the safety of agency staff and clients; including extra sanitization and safety gear such as masks, gloves, shields, and temperature checks to include the CDC COVID-19 questions.  Mobility Options never stopped services and has continued to provide rides for medical appointments, dialysis, cancer care, and other necessary trips, all while taking needed precautions to ensure the safety of both agency drivers and clients alike.  The agency did not close for even a single day due to the coronavirus, our staff transitioned to mobile work like it was old hat.

Also, thanks to a partnership with the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region, the agency has, and continues to, help more than 65 self-isolating seniors with a one-time $100 grocery delivery.  By sponsoring our senior services, you make it possible for the agency to provide even more support to our older population, vitally helping to ensure their continued independence.
